Working, eating, working. Made some rice.

Day 5: Thursday

Today was just a total working day. I got up, went to the cafe(see below), got a "cafe con leche" to-go, and then went to work for about 12 hours. And then I created this blog.

This is the lady at the cafe who serves me coffee. I usually also get a "medialuna" - or "half-moon" - which is a little crossaint.

Anyways - I really don't mind these long work days as long as they do not come too often. And, sometimes it's actually better to do one really long shot of it because I can get into a good rhythm. Today I really created a user interface which is a thing of beauty. Sometimes I like to just look at it.

Also made a rice dish that my italian sister showed me and then added some red-stuff-from-the-box and some corn. It was not photogenic enough, though, for this blog, so you'll have to just guess what it looked like.

The Machine, The Bent One, and The Discoteca

Day 4, Tuesday:
My internet was running slowly, so I complained to my landlord, Eduardo. It turned out that the reason it was going so slowly was that his son, Mariano, was downloading a bunch of music next door. Anyways, Mariano - pictured below - turned out to be a pretty cool guy. He said "Hey, you should come out with my friends sometime." I said, yeah. He said "Okay. I'll come by on wednesday to pick you up...do you have a jacket and tie?"

It turns out he knows somebody who knows somebody who could get us into the Opera Bay discoteca - the most expensive and high-class discoteca in Buenos Aires. But the dress code is formal, and I didn't have anything.

"It's okay. We are about the same size. You can borrow a jacket from me"

Day 5, Wednesday:
So we went to the discoteca Opera Bay and met up with his friends.

But, these are not just any Argentinians ... Pictured from left to right:

EL MACHINA - (The Machine)

EL ESPANOL - (The Spaniard)

EL KALON - (long story -- the meaning of which cannot be translated into mere english)

EL VASCO - (even longer story - even harder to translate)

EL TORCI - (The Bent One) a.k.a. Mariano

Shortly after arrival, El Machina and El Torci quickly went to work in the discoteca introducing me to the finer parts of Argentina on one condition - that I not confess my true, ripe, old age of 27 to any of the girls I met. " Jason, you should tell them you are 24. If you tell them you are 27 they will think you want to marry them."(El Machina)

This is Veronica. She is a CPA. She enjoys dancing and going to the museum.

The good hosts that they are, mi amigos steered me away from los cocodrilos --- "Alligators."

Dangerous and to be avoided at all costs.

While we were there, we also had the pleasure of running into one of argentina's most famous models...Pamela David:

El Vasco managed to get on camera with her. See the movie! Notice the cameraman trying to get him out of the shot.

Afterwards, we took a cab home.

Mi Amiga Cecilia...

Howdy folks.

This is the person who kept me company via skype chat while I was creating this blog. She is a student who is also a Spanish-English interpreter who lives in Buenos Aires. This picture was taken just moments before we finished chatting. She was interpreting a telegram for the king of Mantengasca and when he didn't like what the telegram had to say, he decided to throw her overboard.

Que listo... Good luck Cecilia!

DAY 1 - DAY 3

Hey Folks!

This is my blog about my trip to Argentina. I'm here, this is my third day, and I will attempt herein this post to convey but a fraction of my experience here in the home of Tango and the Land of Latinos...

DAY 1:
All I did on Day 1 was get home from the Airport, eat, sleep, eat, and then sleep.

DAY 2:
Here's the street I live on: Angel Carranza. It's in a nice part of town called "Palermo"

A picture I took right before getting on the subte - which is the argentine metro.

A nice gentlemen took this for me:

Right after I got out of the subte I took this photo. It's something very important.

I took this for my Italian sister, Rachael:

Here is a billboard of a play about a man who is being watched by a giant woman. Looks scary.

At first glance, this looks like a very old church...

...but it's really the kitchen for "Solo Empanadas" ;)

This is a big area where the streets are just for walking. No cars. BONUS: Actual Argentinian people in this photo!

People doing Tango in the street.

Tour de Buenos Aires

I took this picture from the middle of the street!...

...but I almost got hit by a Bus - no kidding!

Here's the guardian angel who saved me.

Now THIS is really important. Please gaze upon it:

After I got home I threw up. Estomago gringo. Gringo stomach.

You think it's funny now, but you'll see when you come down here.

DAY 3

Dogs. Argentinian dogs. Saw them on my way home from the grocery store.

Made lunch. Today's meal was inspired by last night, and everybody's favorite burger(drumroll please...)

This is the first step of my famous "Barfy Burger Deluxe Spaghetti Meal". First, you cook the spaghetti and the Barfy Burger. Watch closely...

Next, add red stuff from box...

Then, add salt.

Cook until pasta sticks to wall when flung thereat.

See the movie!

Pour together...and...TAH DAH!
